Riga is becoming an increasingly popular city. The Latvian capital is the perfect start point to discover the Baltic countries, and it also has a great hotel offering. During my last visit, I stayed in the Wellton Riga Hotel & Spa, here's my review!
The hotel was inaugurated in 2015 and it offers 174 rooms in four different categories:
- Superior rooms
- Family room
I went for the standard room, and it was very cosy and comfortable. I loved the contemporary design of the room, and even though it was the smallest of all the rooms they offered, it was still quite spacious and included a desk and sitting area.
From the very beginning, I felt welcomed at Wellton Riga Hotel & SPA. The staff at reception couldn't have been any nicer and accommodating, so a big shout out to them!
Something that I also loved about my room was that it was on a 7th floor and it offered wonderful views of Riga Market and the Academy of Sciences building.
Our room also included a buffet breakfast served every morning with a great variety of hot food, cakes, fruit and juices, all delicious!
The hotel also has a tapas bar, Allumette, located on the ground floor just next to reception.
Riga is well known for having a spa in every corner, and of course, the Wellton SPA Oasis on the basement of the hotel was the highlight of my stay.
The facilities of the spa include a sauna (80° – 90°), a steam room (48°), a leisure pool with underwater massage, a jacuzzi, as well as a wood shower bucket and lounge beds. The area might look a bit small, but they limit the amount of people that can access the spa at the same time and in fact, when I was there, I was alone for most of the time, which was just perfect for relaxing after a long day of sightseeing!
For guests of the Wellton Riga Hotel & SPA, the spa has a price of €8 with a duration of 2.5h, however, if you take any of their other treatments, you can use it free of charge.
They have dozens of facial treatments and massages. I went for the 1h full body massage and I couldn't be any happier! Also, prices are considerably cheaper that what I'm used to here in Ireland or Western Europe in general.
If you're looking for a relaxed stay in an affordable, 4 star hotel, Wellton Riga Hotel & SPA is the perfect choice. The location in between the Old Town and the bus and train stations makes it just perfect to explore the city. Don't forget to try the spa and one of the massage treatments, you won't regret it!
